Sun Valley Dental Group Dentist Puts Smiles On Vets:
Dr. Galbraith of Sun Valley Dental Group, PLLC and Higher Ground have combined forces to provide dental treatment to Higher Ground's disabled military veterans free of charge.
"The purpose of my dental office has always been to provide the absolute best care to each and every client, and Higher Ground does that and more for every disabled military veteran who goes through their program. I've never seen a Higher Ground participant without a smile, and that inspired me to contribute my services to their participants free of charge. So far, we've made a lot of people smile and given back to those who have sacrificed so much to protect all of our freedoms. I've enjoyed being a part of it!"
Higher Ground provides recreational therapy to disabled individuals from all walks of life, and has a special program for military veterans who have experienced Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Military Sexual Trauma (MST), for example.
"It's an honor to be able to serve these great men and women who have served our country. I am grateful for their service," says Dr. Galbraith.
Sun Valley Dental Group is now partnering with Higher Ground
to help Veterans with their dental care.
During the cold weather season, big jackets are in, shorts and sandals are out. But, as we buckle up, make sure that your child in his or her car seat is properly fastened. Recent tests have shown that when children are buckled into car seats while wearing jackets, the seatbelt is actually very lose compared to how they buckle when not wearing their jackets. Watch the link below to see exactly how this phenomena happens.
This, and every winter, protect your child by carefully buckling them into their car seats. We want you and your family to get here as safely as possible.

HEALTHCARE’S SECRET WEAPON = YOUR REGULAR DENTAL CHECKUP
Healthcare is one of the hottest topics of our time. While debates continue to rage on regarding the best strategies for covering our nation’s healthcare bills, may I suggest how to lower them for each individual, including yourself. The answer? Don’t miss your regular dental visit. Why?—because it will keep you healthier, and it could save your life.
It may be obvious that dental care is aimed at preserving healthy teeth and gums and treating oral disease when applicable. What may not be so apparent is how oral disease conditions negatively affect the entire body.
Periodontal disease (or tooth bone and gum disease) has been shown to cause severe pain, lower the ability to eat by loss of teeth, allow the spread of infection to other parts of the body, and more.
Perhaps worse, it directly increases the likelihood of heart disease including heart attack and stroke, certain types of cancer, increases pregnancy risk, the onset of depression, and affects many other common medical ailments. Noting this direct connection, cannot routine dental care reduce your risk of experiencing such ailments? It can and it does.
Patients who regularly visit the dentist report not only lower incidence of medical problems, they report fewer dental problems as well, which makes for truly something to smile about! And what’s more, you can keep the hard-earned money you might need to spend on such care for other needs for yourself or family.
Aside from the many protective benefits of routine dental care, you may not realize that the one medical professional you see most regularly might be your dentist. The benefits of regular, thorough dental examinations can be no better reflected than the following experience:
I once had the opportunity to meet a gentleman for the first time in my hygiene department who asked to see me. He asked me to evaluate the results of a dental treatment he had received in another state. What I saw was shocking, but it had nothing to do with his dental treatment. It had to do with his body. He demonstrated several symptoms that suggested he might have a serious endocrine disorder, and I referred him to a competent medical team for evaluation. This evaluation revealed that he had a serious brain tumor that caused not only his failed treatment, but was causing unnecessary bodily growth, and many other systems in his body to fail. He courageously sought treatment and after adequate treatment and follow-up, he was cured of his condition.
He later thanked me for saving his life—a humbling adulation I’m afraid I can’t take full credit for. My training at the top-level University of California San Francisco was directly responsible. Nevertheless, it was truly an honor to be involved.
So the next time you consider how to lower your medical or dental bills and improve your quality of life at the same time, the answer is simple. See your dentist!
