Ryan Sloan, DDS/Prosthodontist

Dr. Ryan Sloan was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. After high school, he attended Southern Virginia University where he studied business and chemistry and played baseball for two years. It was there that he met his wife, Jasmin. After graduation, they moved to Dallas, TX, so that Ryan could attend Texas A&M University Health Science Center College of Dentistry. While in Dallas, they had their first two children, and Ryan discovered his passion for prosthodontics. He was accepted to the graduate prosthodontic program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry in Memphis, TN. He spent the next three years there earning his certificate in prosthodontics, a specialty fewer than 2% of dentists pursue. During that time, he also taught dental students and obtained his Master of Dental Sciences degree at the UTHSC College of Graduate Health Sciences. Following graduation, the Sloan family moved to Reno, NV, where Ryan worked as an associate prosthodontist and they welcomed their third child. During this time, Ryan challenged and passed the American Board of Prosthodontics exam and became a Fellow in the American College of Prosthodontists, a distinction only a third of prosthodontists achieve. He has been published in the Journal of Prosthodontics and has been a speaker and table clinician at national and regional dental meetings. He is one of only two board-certified prosthodontists in the state of Idaho.

Ryan and his wife Jasmin have been married for 13 years. Their children are 10, 6 and 2 years old. Ryan enjoys spending time outdoors and is currently trying to relearn how to play the piano, an effort he started as a child and wishes he would have continued. Jasmin is an avid photographer, artist and bird enthusiast. They love exploring all the natural beauty that Idaho has to offer.

What is a prosthodontist?
A prosthodontist is a specialist in oral rehabilitation. This includes replacing missing teeth with dental implants, crowns, bridges or dentures and restoring worn or damaged teeth with veneers. A prosthodontist is trained to pay special attention to both the cosmetic and functional aspects of replacing or repairing teeth. To become a prosthodontist, a dentist must first complete dental school and then pursue three additional years of training in an accredited university prosthodontic program.
